Renewing Health
Klagenfurt, November 2011
Groiss Informatics GmbH implemented the eHealth portal for chronic sick patients in Carinthia.
Within the EU project "Renewing Health", where nine countries are participated, the medical care of chronic sick patients should be improved. In the telemedicine patient-centred care the patient, the hospital, the doctor and other groups like domicilliary care and care homes should be involved.
Groiss Informatics GmbH implemented a portal where the patient is able to enter independently its health data in a periodical way. The data are collected on the server, prepared and transfered to the responsible doctor.
Security A special challenge is the security of such projects. The solution has been integrated into the Carinthian e-Government portal and is accessible by citizen card or mobile phone signature. If the patient has no such access possibilities, an anonymised access - via own server - is available. With this technology the requirements of the e-Government law are complied.
Useability A special focus was the design of the user interface for patients: Simple and clear design, help functions, input- and plausibility checks supports during input. There are many advantages for the patient: In addition to the current values the old values are retrievable, so it is possbile to make graphical comparisons. If common or personal thresholds are excessed, a doctor will be informed immediately. It is possible to define absences and reminder functions (E-Mail or SMS) can be configured.
